Come on you Reds, let's finish with a win.
Will the team be doing a lap of dishonour at the end of the game?

I'll be playing scrabble at my friend's place - a lot more variation in tactics. More good spells in the game too.

Okay chaps - I will ensure it is a thrilling win for our boys today... cos seeing as the lads couldn't be arsed to roll up on Wednesday... being a lightweight glory-hunter, I won't be arsed to attend on Saturday.. job done... you can thank me later... see you next season..!

Morris, Young, Connolly, McNerney, Blackman, Djalo, Smith, Boldewijn, Cox, Roberts & Collins

Subs. Mersin, Harrold, Yorwerth, Bawling, Clifford, Tajbakhsh & Lelan

Seems to me that must leave Payne, Garnett and (maybe) Arthur selling burgers while Murphy has been given a bus ticket back to Forest Green?

The King doesnt need to give a team talk just at halftime just a wet sponge for each player to wake them up especially Roberts and the defence.

The first half hour was an utter disgrace! The players look unfit and disinterested. We're slow to react to all second balls and look all over the place at times. Have we done any proper training since DD left on Thursday? Some of these players are playing for contracts, but don't seem to care.

2-2 finishes the season then and Matt Harrold completes an unbeaten run as manager, sign him up Matt Confused

Attendance 2635 so I guess a couple of hundred or so from Mansfield

Bad news, Newport stay up

Well that understates it. Fantastic performance in second half. Well done to the lads. So close to winning when Collins hits the inside of post in last ten minutes. A positive end to season.

Firstly, good to see our owner and directors once again engaging with supporters before and after the game. I was very encouraged by what they had to say and that the summer will see some good signings.

On the field, a game of 2 halves. First half Mansfield should have been out of sight, 2 goals, 2 great saves by Morris and a header which should have been buried. MH looked like a fish out of water, however a good finish by Dean Cox was against the run and gave us a chance.

Second half was totally different. Cracking finish by Roberts for 2-2 and if there was to be a winner it was us. Collins shot hit the inside of the post, then a great save from their keeper as well.

Such a shame we left it until the last 45 mins of the season to put on a show.

MH brought himself on with about 1 minute of injury time left for the shortest of cameos, suggesting he knows it was probably his last appearance in a Reds shirt. If so it was a very positive end.

19th overall, a bit disappointing from where we were around the turn of the year but we were the bookies favourites for the drop and it is not the end of the world.

Now is the time to recharge batteries, await the new manager and signings and before we know it it will be time for the PSFs.
