Graham Westley: Newport County board give boss two games

Quote:
It was decided at Monday's meeting that Westley will be in charge for the away matches at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, 12 March and Morecambe away on Tuesday, 14 March.

Good luck with that... Wink

No-one wants him to turn it around, largely because it's Newport.

Newport got the ideal manager for them.

Agreed.

Although Vlad will probably say otherwise.

I suppose for Westley the positive is that his CV won't have "relegated with Newport" on it.......

Watch it, Vlad knows where to find you Notso... Razz

...okay I like the guy as a person, not so sure about him as a football manager and he seems to have lost his touch since his adventure at Preston (although he was a bit unfairly treated at Posh) and Newport were a truly disgraceful bunch when they visited us.

I thought at the outset that he would probably have enough nous for them to fight - literally in some cases - their way to safety... he couldn't seem to get anything out of the players already there... but at the window he got an entire new team in and that has not worked either... it looks like the inevitable will happen, two games is hardly a ringing endorsement from the board.

Can't stand Westley. Can't stand Newport. What's not to like about this situation?

No one likes to see a football club struggling, although I will use Newport as an exception.
I will raise a glass when their relegation is confirmed, then finish the bottle as their second football league exit finally kills the club beyond repair.

No doubt their thuggish "fans" are hurting rather deeply.

Your kids sound like they don't have many friends Graham.

They've sacked him. Must have played those games behind closed doors.

It was always going to happen from the moment they said he had two games to fix it... letting him know that privately is motivational management... letting the media know it, is public humiliation..!

What poor Club are going to employ him, now?

A nasty, cheating, time waster. This man tried to change Pele's version of "the beautiful game" at most Teams he's been involved with.

No doubt Thad will be wearing a black armband😉

The announcement from Newport on Tuesday denied the press reports about 'having two games' and said they'd be a further meeting this week.

He can take care of himself Gasman, I don't think he has ever been accused of lack of confidence... just to clear it up, he was always a gentleman in my dealings with him and I found him very engaging and he also seemed to have plenty of affection for our club.

I'm allowed to like the bloke, but I made it clear to him what I thought of the style of football he encourages... he dealt with the criticism respectfully and has no problem with people expressing their opinions.... mind you, that was when his star was in the ascendant, it has lost a bit of shine since then.
