Just read on the Pompy forum, that their season ticket sales have just gone past 12000. Feeling a bit down. |

Don't feel too down; they're still in the same league as us. |

It just shows how much Pompey have underachieved then if they are still stuck in League 2 with such good support. |

Like last season when their supporters were having a go at us and we replied with "How **** must you be your playing Crawley" which got a good response from their fans. |

Or more to the point what happens when you throw around a lot of money that you don't have, only to find that the owners lose interest and the money dries up.
Good learning point for us there. |

Portsmouth is a club with a long and established history (doesn't mean that you deserve success) but they always have a faithful and passionate support.....there no modern football fans there I reckon.
But don't worry about what anyone else is doing.....Crawley just need to make sure they get an average home attendance of at least 1800.....otherwise it will get embarrassing. |

Most probably still paying down the debt and excesses from the Redknapp era and subsequent administration and relegations.
An owner can spend as much of their own money as they like, which is fine by me, as long as they don't leave the club in the *&@t or administration!
By the same token if we only get 1200 paying home supporters we shouldn't expect to be in the Football League and its only by the fact that the owners (past & present) subsidise the club that we are.
But for how much longer....? |

Sadly in practice it rarely works that way. When the moneymen walk away the club is then saddled with players on excessive contracts that can't be shifted overnight.

Often it means administration, and at worst it's goodbye and goodnight.
Locally the collective experience over the last 20 years at Brighton, Crawley, Aldershot, Farnborough and Lewes is pretty (un)impressive in this area. |
