What a contrast to London 2012, you could not escape the hype ( and quite rightly so ) now virtually on the eve of Rio 2016, you'd be forgiven for not knowing its gonna happen soon.
Any thoughts or comments ????? |

If you want to see a bunch of sweaty people on stimulants abusing their bodies, there are plenty of nighclubs available. |

I have difficulty getting excited about the Olympics there days. One never knows how long someone will hold a gold medal, or world record for before it is removed because the athlete used banned substances.
Anyway, back to watching the Tour de France............ |

The Olympics these days had more drugs than Glastonbury, Columbia and Redz Bar pre match all put together.
Athletics in general isn't in a great place at the moment and people just don't care. |

Athletics is high in Russia.
Actually the break up of the Soviet Union must have saved the Bloc a fortune in drugs....... |

As if people ever cared... be honest, fact is that every 4 years you might get a brilliant flag-waving moment or two... but otherwise you don't give a flying *beep*.
C'mon... how much ice-dancing has the nation bothered about since Torvill & Dean stopped demolishing Johnny Foreigner...?
As far as I'm concerned, the only reason to run fast is to get a football past a fullback and cross it into the box, so that someone who can jump well, can head into the goal...
...otherwise there is simply just no flippin point..!
If they really want to revive interest, pick the team at random and have egg & spoon, sack race & 3-legged... and hold it ever year without all the nazi traditions & media gobbollox. |

I enjoy a good covers band down the Swan... I know it's not the real thing but hey-ho it's free, the people are friendly and the beer is always good...
...okay the venue is not ideal, but so far they have been unsuccessful in persuading the taxpayers to fund a few spare million to convert it...! |

As always, I'm thoroughly enjoying the Olympics. As someone who naturally stays up late it's on at a perfect time for me.
The only disappointment is the empty seats. I know that economic conditions in Rio are very different to those in London but surely more could have been done to fill the seats - made the seats cheaper, given tickets away to kids and families. |

Seats are always empty at Olympic games, it is due to the tickets given to the dignitaries of the Olympic movement, who then only turn up for the 100m final..... |

I am irritated at the momet by turning to the BBC NEWS website and seeing all the Olympic happenings and having to look deeper down for the real news.
There is a seperate page for the Sports news - and that is full of the same articles as on the main news page.
Keep the sports reporting in the sports section, and the news for proper news.
Rant over. |
