Not wishing to create a scapegoat for our poor form over the past season and a bit, it occurred to me how shockingly we seem to play when Jimmy Smith (a very poor man's Danny Bulman) starts. I've obviously got too much time on my hands but I've researched the average no. of points we've gained when he starts and when he doesn't.
Out of 34 league games that Jimmy Smith HAS started in a Crawley shirt we have gained 25 points at an average of 0.735 points per game. Of the 19 games he HASN'T started we have gained 28 points at an average of 1.473 points per game. Enough said. I'll get my anorak !

Fair comment...biggest difference between this year and last is that he points less...Henderson was also b/awful yesterday, almost anonymous.

Hope Jenkins and Murphy add some spark

Agreed, but bear in mind he is not match fit after his lay off.

I'm sure we'll see an improvement.

Henderson was played out of position. He is not match fit. We are obviously looking for another scapegoat.

Worth noting we had Murphy, Edwards, McNerney, & Harrold unavailable who would\could\should start if fit. Plus Oyebanjo and Tomlin coming back from injury. That is 6 players who could well make a difference. The team and management should be judged when there is real competition for places. Yeovil said they had a big injury list too but they were in the Championship the season before last so have a bigger squad.

So we get twice as many points when Smith doesn't start then... Hmm time for him to go, Jenkins looked useful maybe he should start in his place. Also wouldn't mind Bobson Bawling starting ahead of Smith as at least he puts the effort in, which seems to make him the odd one out in games.

Henderson has something about him if he was surrounded by a decent midfield who won and gave him the ball he would be decent. He has a pass and dead ball is great.

His problem is he is playing in league 2 where you have to run and tackle and he is made of glass. He can't cope physically with the league.

If he transported to Brighton he could do exactly what Solo March and Forster Caskey do there. He has just blown his chance of the big gravy train and struggling to come to terms with it.

Football stats are tricky because the figures alone don't take regard of the quality of the opposition.... however the mere fact that someone was suspicious enough to do the spadework tells its own story.

I cannot comment on the team this season, but I thought last season Smith definitely looked more effective at fullback and we had a good destructive midfielder when Keith Keane was here and a good playmaker in Lee Fowler, shame we never had them together at the same time.

He's no footballer.
