So the retained lists are staring to come out already.
Mat Sadler released by Rotherham. Jay Emmanuel Thomas by Bristol City. John-Joe O'Toole listed by Northampton. Kaid Mohamed apparently unwanted by Port Vale.
Could be some interesting people coming on the market. |

Sads should have stayed when he was offered a deal. The Championship was a step too far for him. |

I suspect Sads probably regrets it. He had a great record of consistently playing. Not sure his wage offer from Rotherham could buy him the happiness and settled feeling he had with us/Walsall
Sure a club will snap him up though |

Brighton are looking to send their young keeper, Christian Walton, out on loan for the season - could be a good fit here? |

Need a manager before you can sign players which really highlights the importance of sorting that situation out first. |

Our wage bill was 1.5m last season and will drop by about a third give or take to 1m
That is not a lot to put a competitive squad together on.
Losing McLeod, Simpson, Jenson and Walsh will assist and probably fill the whole left by Central funding and a bit depending on transfer income from Walsh and McLeod.
We will have to get three or four loans in ideally season long as otherwise we are waiting until Nov again before adding quality.
Of the current squad Fowler should be resigned but only if DS stays. |

Fowler has been offered a new contract, but I would imagine he is likely to keep his options open before making any decision on the deal he's been offered here.

JET will go to a Championship club. Very surprised that Bristol City have released him. |

Is the £1 million just player wages only?
If so, that's 20 players x £50k (using easy numbers).
Assuming some variation in wages, I imagine the lowest paid players could be on perhaps £600 - £700 per week.
Assuming I was such a player, I'd probably start a window cleaning round. |

Budget would be significantly below this seasons conference figures for Bristol Rovers, Barnet, Grimsby, Wrexham & both the £££ hobby clubs FGR & Eastleigh |

So were we a £££ hobby club when the money came in in 2010? |

To a lot of people yes we probably were, all the Man City of non-league stuff etc. and that Conference winning side was crammed full of talent that was playing below its natural level at that stage. |

Funny when I look back at it now. When I first came to CTFC it was in 2010 and my brother said exactly that phrase, "The Man City of non league".
I knew nothing about the money at the time and just wanted to spend time with my lads at a decent level of football club. If I lived elsewhere it could have been Barnet or Luton I went to. All I knew at the time was that I wasn't going to spend another penny on premier football which I had grown to hate.
Looking back it is obvious how much money was sloshing about when you look at signings then to now. |

Well... yes... and no.... the income generated by the cup runs & player sales easily offset the investment for at least the first two seasons...! |
