Until three seasons ago we had been non league our entire existence. It takes time to grow a fan base. Talking of throwing in the towel is way premature. The crowds are disappointing but it will improve in time. I'm doing my bit; for my daughter's 6th birthday in January I'm taking her to her first Crawley game. And I'll do the same for my son in a few years when he turns 6.

Agreed it takes time to grow a fan base etc
Would you agree that it takes even longer when that fan base is in fact declining?
I wonder what the crowd would have been had we been slaughtered up at Barnsley.

Jenson saved our *beep* this afternoon, he was outstanding, did he get MOM I missed the announcement. The one positive I can take from this game is, we were rubbish and sneaked a win.

The crowds are declining yes, and that's disappointing, but in a town dominated by Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Brighton and crystal palace fans it will take a long time to improve the crowds, that's the sad truth. But Crawley are establishing themselves well as a league club and that bodes well for the future. The players are all on sustainable contracts with a sensible wage cap in place so I think the club will be around and in the football league for long enough for the youngsters to start taking an interest in the club.

So many times last season we tried to play tippy tap football and didn't get a result. JG has a very determined and resilient bunch who even when outplayed get the points. The Henderson/Tomlin link was weak but it was up against a very strong Swindon midfield run by Luongo. I was relieved when Bobson was put in there to snap at their heels and Banya added a bit of pace and energy - but they were down to 10 men. Emmet played a nice short cameo role at the end. Not carried away at all with 2 out of 2 in the league as for me it just gets us closer to 50 points.

indeed the August fixures are never great attendance wise but a disappointing crowd none the less

it will take 10 - 15 years for us to be pulling in 6k attendances we have to get the kids and teens down to the ground make the supporters and when they have kids they will bring them along

with a club like crawley you are not going to get 5k through the door just by clicking our fingers

The crowd is a big worry. 2100 home fans, for a league 1 club... woeful.

The performance.. well the first half was not good. We allowed them way to much time and space and they were running through us with ease. Second half was a lot better, and we took our chance when it came.

MOTM - Jensen. What a signing he will be for us. Also I should add Izale McLeod worked his socks off today, played very well.

6 points from 6. Roll on Tuesday!

Jensen was great again. He's gonna be a very important player for us.

Midfield again looked weak. We won't keep riding our luck.

McLeod missed a few chances but provided a real threat running behind, we missed that last season. We look more of a threat on the break without the indecision of Proctor.

Good start, but we can play better.
