Steve Hollis has tweeted that Tubbsy will only return to CTFC if we have a squad capable of challenging for the playoffs

sorry it does not yet appear on the Argus internet site

That's a bit presumptuous on his part who said he would be good enough to get in a squad challenging for the play offs . His form after the first 7 games was very underwhelming ...Proctor contributed far more in most games.

Blokes a legend, but he's hardly cut it at this level has he, should be glad Crawley want him as not a lot of other clubs are showing interest.

He usually comes across as a bit more modest than that so I suspect a bit of creative paraphrasing by the media.

Tubbs was the victim of wrong tactics this season, he's not the biggest or tallest bloke, but for long stretches of play, our plan was to lump it up to him, and when he has two defenders, both of which are 6 inches taller and 5 stone meatier. trying to kick him up in the air, he really didnt stand a chance, when he was playing up front with some one like Tyrone Barnet, he could do his striker stuff well.
At least that was my take on it.
I would rather have him playing for us, than against.

Mr Tubbs will not get into a team with serious ambitions to challenge for the play offs...Rotherham showed him that...!!

Although the statistics show Matt played 18 games for Rovrum (scoring once) he only STARTED two games !!!!

Personally thought Proctor carried Tubbs. Towards the end of the season he was invisible . He looked slightly over weight , tubby even. A pit like his old pal Barnett.

I am in two minds he has goals in him but for large parts of the game it's like playing with ten men. To be fair he played better with Clarke but hey that won't happen again.

If he signs , we WILL have a team challenging for promotion.

Come back Tubbsy, you are the best player in the history of CTFC.

He looked lost at times. But we know how good he is in a partnership.

And he scored 8 in 15.

I think he's worth a shot.

Give him a full pre-season to get his fitness up and get someone to play up alongside him, a McAllister or Barnett type player, and we could be onto something.

MM, if you think we will be challenging for promotion next season, I suggest you tie a pair of undepants around your head, stick a pencil up each nostril and go around saying "Wibble".

It didn't work for Blackadder, but it might work for you.

Agree. A waste of our time and his if we play him as the lone striker.

Also agree.

Tubbs / McCallister

Tubbs / Barnett

Both superb partnerships. Trouble is, I didn't see Tubbs / Proctor working. So Matty would need another partner to try. Is Barnett going to be let go?

Be more positive, each new season is filled with hope, dreams and aspirations.

Aim high you MIGHT get promoted.

Aim low and you WILL NOT get promoted.

No one could seriously say they want Barnet back after his performance here with Bristol city.

He was over weight and unfit. Judging by the way he has struggled and moved from club to club he has become very complacent. Trying to recreate the Tubbs Barnett partnership would be to expensive and an exsersise in futility based on memorys.

I am not sure even JG wants him anymore . He seems to make the odd encouraging comment out if respect but given the far better performers JG has released doent make sense to go after Tubbs.
