I'm sure he's correct with his very short comment, but has he been told by Chelsea who they are going to send in 2 months time ?

The Chelsea friendly is frankly embarrassing. Professional league one players taking on Chelsea kids. Will pass on this one.

Well, the Chelsea Youth side did win the FA Youth Cup this season and have a few million pound players in it.

I don't go to friendlies anyway but you have to get rid of the rust against someone .....

It's the last friendly before the season starts.

We shouldn't be getting rid of any rust at that stage, it's the point where you need competitive games.

The fact that the article on OS talks about their academy suggests that is who it will be. Plus I thought I read online that their first team will be away on tour when the game is played.

Facts again Simon. They've been cropping up far too much lately.

Of course, we don't KNOW that Chelsea will send their first team on a lucrative foreign promotional tour, unless you've been told that. They might send the kids and save the first team for us. Wink

Maybe you should ask him?
It's always Chelsea kids. Not really interested in that. If we could get some first teamers down to the Broadfield, that would be different. They do have a huge squad. TBH I'd rather have Spurs youth team down here - we always slaughter them Razz

Yes I would be pretty sure they have told us the likely make-up of the team.

You really think we would be selling tickets for a tenner if they had told us any first team players were coming? Or advertising it as a Chelsea XI?

I think brighton might be a bit more of a test but perhaps far too soon for either team to be in a real position of shaping what will start the season properly.

Then again, they are meant to be a warm up for the main event. The League.

Just a chance to give ALL the players (and a few possibles) a run out ....

I see Chelsea have just linked up with a local college, when I saw this I assumed it meant local to them, but is actually Thomas Bennett!! Presumably as part of their takeover of football in the area, and now we are ending up playing their boys team!!!! I do hate that lot, does it show?Evil or Very Mad
