It would appear this we've missed out on Southampton left back Ryan Dickson according to this report:

I can't see what his issue is.

He signed a contract, now it hasn't worked out he is not only looking to move on but also expecting them to pay up the remaining year??

He needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Either take the higher salary and be sat on the bench, or move on and be paid what you are really worth. Not difficult really.

Indeed Simon, not the sort of mindset you want from players really. Compare and contrast to Ling's comments about O'Kane. THAT'S the attitude I like to see not putting money considerations first. You're being paid to play football *beep*, we'd all give our left tezzers to do that, why wouldn't you want to play?.

That aside, he's a decent enough fullback, good going forward too. Would walk into our team now but broke out of our youth team just at the time we were upwardly mobile in the Championship so was never going to get a game.

I also have a major issue with the facetweetification of the modern world. I don't know which is more classless and vacuous, a footballer airing his business and financial dealings in public or a suposedly reputable newspaper reporting such inane drivel as "news"?.

It makes it all very difficult to try and achieve an "under the radar" new signing (as SOD appears to like to do business, in that nothing comes out of the club until complete, unlike SE who broadcasts to the world), with supporters tuned in to twitter accounts trying to read every nuance of what has been said (see the O'Kane thread for this!) and players seemingly using it as a tool to advertise themselves or their gripes?

A joke really - he made two appearances last season both in the cup - so he's not even very likely to be warming the bench for Saints in the Prem.

Clearly no real ambition to play football - is he really the sort of player we want in the team?

They're probably even written by their agents. You can see who stands to gain from getting Saints to give him a pay-off, organising a move and thus getting a fee and/or letting it out into the public domain so A.N.Other club can see if they dangle a big enough signing on fee he may consider himself 'compensated'.

It's a murky world and it gets worse the higher up you go. Oh for the days of the first anyone knows of a move is when the paper drops on the doormat and the player is photographed holding up a scarf infront of the main stand.
