Can anyone define the differences in the role of a DoF from a manager please?

Great stuff. He can't be the manager because the players need to stay awake during team talks (what I remember of Coppell, he will enjoy the joke too). I do recall that he was one of those players who got himself a decent education so should hopefully hold his own behind the scenes. It was fortunate that he did too because although he had a career that went on a number of years, it was cut short by knee problems.

Great move by the club He was a good manager for Palace. All this has happened so quickly it must have been in the pipeline for a while.

Oh dear. Director of Football. Not a fan of these things as the demarkation lines between them and the boss is often too difficult. But in Coppell's case he's not interested in being manager again so maybe a good thing

Maybe the appointment was being done with or without Evans going?

As someone with good knowledge of the game then Coppell stands head and shoulders above other candidates - I would actually have given him a role at England level helping coaches etc etc

So overall given my resistance to DofF thumbleft

Great appointment, welcome to CTFC Steve!

Be interesting to see how this role works in tandem with the Manager / Coach.

Well done the Board. Let's hope this works out slightly better than Alan Mullery (I believe he was our last Director of Football?) Wink

Great stuff - sure he can help steady the ship, future player identification and build the coaching infrastructure too, still need to replace Rusk as Head of Youth and grow the CoE, his contacts and knowledge of the game should help to pursuade others we are serious about things in the wider game.

I've never liked these roles. Undermines the manager and often ends in tears.

On paper a great appointment. However with his history it says to me that this is unlikely to be long term.
