Obviously I've not seen the team too much this season, but player fitness, or lack of, is a regular complaint and it was glaringly obvious last night that this is indeed a problem.

I wonder if this is a symptom of DD's background coaching youth teams. Youth coaches will generally concentrate on technique as fitness is natural amongst most youth players.

He needs to have them running up and down the hill at Tilgate!

Very true. We are not fit enough.

The only player with pace was Bobson, too bad that he cannot co-ordinate his feet.

I have been amazed at how much time off DD seems to give the players. Particularly given the level of under performance in the team.

Fitness has been a huge issue both in terms of our ability to close teams down when we don't have possession, our ability to get to 50 - 50 balls and also frankly the general appearance of some of the players - they look unfit.

I felt that there was a clear indication of the fitness and leadership of the teams last night. At the end of 90 mins when the teams had to remain on the pitch, the Brighton players remained standing in a group while they were, presumably, given instructions. Our full time professionals looked worn out and were sitting around, some having tired legs rubbed, in an haphazard group with no obvious team instructions being given.

Seeing as Dermot & Matt have now paid the price... without wishing to start another witch-hunt, it might be worth directing a few questions towards Marc Lindsey, who has the role of Crawley Town FC Strength & Conditioning Coach.

A strength and conditioning coach,oh give me strength!!!
Sprint, recover,Sprint, recover.Add distance then more Sprint and recover.Know your strengths and use them wisely. Each and every player has a personal responsibility to be in the best shape possible. If they can't reach the standard expected don't pay them.

There is that argument - that they should be out doing their own fitness work away from the training ground! It's their career after all!

Drummy made the point, when he arrived, that there was an issue with the players' fitness but nothing much seems to have happened.

The owner last week said he had to sort out the players' lifestyle issues (by that I took it to mean their diet and fitness).

It is patently clear to anyone attending matches that the players aren't fit enough. Simon Walton epitomised this last season.

Even some of the more seasoned pros in the team seem to be puffing a bit more than you would like in the first half of games.

No proper training ground doesn't help

You don't need a 'proper training ground' to get fit.

No, that's true, you don't. But six years as an FL club, we really should have sorted something out by now.
A few of our players haven't looked fully fit this season, the overall effort from them has been lacking on so many occasions it was painful to watch. Yet the fitness + conditioning coach has kept his job. Shocked If tactics and motivation was/should have been DD's job, just what has our fitness coach been doing? Whatever it was, he wasn't very successful at it.
