Crawley fans,

Written up some neutral thoughts ahead of your game at Grimsby and also the summer ahead for both clubs - http://www.TheFootbalLab.co.uk.....mer-ahead/

Be interested to get your views on Enzio Boldewijn - your most creative player this year? If so, do you think he would do as well in a more direct, Yates-esque system?

All the best for the rest of the season and beyond.

Our most creative player this year?

If only.

Can't jump, can't run.

He looks the part but IMHO doesn't deliver all he was meant to.

When he is good he is a game-changer, when he is not he is a luxury.

Cool

I'm struggling to think of a 'most creative' player. Payne, Henderson, Clifford, Enzio, Cox and Roberts have all flickered but not sustained it.

On his day Enzio is good, trouble is those days are fairly rare.

Enzio and Lelan down the right hand side are an accident waiting to happen both are poor and will be glad to see the back of both of them

When Enzio wants to play he can really play but to often he drifts in and out of games and rarely makes the impact

Enzio is very inconsistent. When he's in the mood he's an excellent player, however he's not often in the mood.

May have overestimated Enzio in that case. Fans divided on Drummy?

ENZIO is a winger. Sometimes good, sometimes not but even Drummy says he has a tendency to mark himself. I take that to mean he places himself next to his marker. Our meeting most creative player is Billy Clifford but a habit of doing tricks close to his own goal has seen him fall down the pecking order.

If you watch the highlights/lowlights of the goals we concede you do tend to see the centre halves stepping out to challenge a midfield runner leaving a large gap behind. That's runners through the middle and out wide. So, although we have a terrible defensive record it is incorrect just to blame the defenders. It's how we are defending as a team that is the issue and for that you have to look at the manager.

I wouldn't say the fans are divided on the manager. I think most feel he has not done well enough with the players we have signed and his tactics. There are stirrings of Drummy out but there always will be when we are not challenging for automatic promotion even though I think it is unrealistic of a club our size to be doing so.

I think the tactics bit is key - if we were playing exciting attacking football and winning some / losing some then people would be more forgiving but there seems to be a lot of negative / uninspiring performances.[/u][/b]

I'm thinking along the lines of slowly, slowly. Next season, a top half finish. Maybe the season after a play off challenge.
No hurry.

Absolutely this Paul!!!
If the fans buy in to this then it is most certainly the best way forward.
It's a BIG if though.

I think if we hang on to Drummy ( which I think we should ) we should be aiming for a top ten finish, but I would be reasonably happy with top half and a decent cup run.
