Yes - hopeless at the north end of the West Stand. Couldn't make out what was being said. A neighbour had a teamsheet, that's how we found out who was playing.
And for what is worth the left hand of the two hand dryers was broken again However full marks to the club as the ground was looking very smart.

Notrth End of West Stand - Music was loud enough! But the actual announcements were hopeless. Muffled and quiet. Also the chap galloped through the team lists like a racing commentator! Get the bloke from 3Bridges - His PA was excellent when we played there! |

Hearing the announcements was one of the negatives. I felt that it was more about the announcer or the volume switch than the PA system. The speech was clear, but far too quiet.
On the plus side, well done to the club for supplying vegetarian fare that was edible. The cheese and onion pasty was so hot and tasty, I considered taking it to bed with me. No, seriously, it was a decent snack. More of the same please. |

The beer was awful, the food was yuk but the sun, sea and rum was lovely for my constitution.
I looked up the result and the locals (sic) in Cayo Coco were surprised by my yelp of delight and the subsequent shouts if 'you reds' but a bloody happy Crawley fan retired to the bar, held his nose and sunk a few in celebration.
A tour of Havana in a 1956 Chevy Bel air convertible was my personal highlight of the week but that feeling of a win helped me have a lovely holiday holiday in the socialist paradise that is/was Cuba.

That was a decent article to read. I particularly enjoyed, "... a referee who’d look out of his depth in a puddle ..."
A couple of typos: "tale" for "take" in the Connolly paragraph and "though" for "thought" near the end - neither of which would be picked up by spell checker.
I wouldn't say anything normally, but it looks like you are writing some serious articles - so would appreciate feedback.
You captured the mood of the day with stunning accuracy. |

Thanks gents, I really appreciate the feedback and equally the proofreading. I'll make the amendments tonight when I finally get home. |

The skill in proof reading is to read your script (sorry TV speak) backwards. That way you are forced to read every word and not what you think is actually written - it's when you spot words like toe instead of town and so on.
Then read it forwards to make sure it makes sense |

Matt - I liked the point you made that it was the performance of the players that inspired the crowd to be more vocal & involved... I'm fed up with complaints about the atmosphere, we are as lively as anyone when we are given the motivation and there hasn't been a lot of that in recent seasons.
Although I am prepared to draw the line at Big Jim Baker doing salsa dancing..! |
