Might have been able to do a job for us, but Fleetwood have got him......
Quote: | League One side Fleetwood Town have signed striker Shola Ameobi on a contract to the end of the season following his release by Bolton.
The 34-year-old former Nigeria international left Wanderers last month as they were unable to offer him a new deal due to their financial problems.
Former Newcastle man Ameobi spent time at Turkish side Gaziantep BB and Crystal Palace before he joined Bolton.
He is available for Fleetwood's game at Port Vale on Saturday at 15:00 GMT.
"In January we signed a number of younger players and it was vital to the group that we brought in a player with experience," boss Steven Pressley told the club website.
"We certainly couldn't get any more experience than Shola and we are absolutely delighted with that."

You're right, if there's job openings for toilet cleaners or checking tickets then yes, he could do a job for us. Anything apart from that, no thanks. |

I'm guessing that location may have been an issue. Bolton and Fleetwood aren't exactly the other end of the country from each other. |

I imagine finances (or lack of) played a part too. |

And probably the fact they are a league higher than us. |

And Shola Ameobi is so prolific. 95 goals in 341 games. Yeah, I'm gutted we didn't go in for him |

How many forwards have we had with a better strike rate than that since the Tubbs days? |

So Fleetwood have released Jamie Proctor and signed Shola Ameobi.
Sounds a fair deal to me. |

Proctor's first goal against Coventry a couple of seasons ago will always stand out as the best individual goal I have seen at The Broadfield. |

Yes, I loved that too. He must have hated Coventry as he scored two against them in quick succession in another game. |
