This seems unnecessarily antagonistic.
Most reasonably sized adults could drink 4 or 5 pints but not be drunk; but fail the breathalyser.
Being drunk is easy to prove.; breath smells of alcohol, unsteady on feet, speech slurred. (that's me after 7 pints, but not 4 which would be the most I might drink at a match)
As has been said, you can enter fairly sober and then get drunk in the ground.
Of more concern are those that drink and mix that with other illicit substances.
As for the point about Millwall fans, their yobbish element and that of other clubs probably don't need to drink to fuel their stupid behaviour. |

I suspect , in reality, they will only use the breath test machines, when someone is quite obviously tanked up.
That way the steward has evidence for his decision of not allowing that person in.
I don't think it will be a problem for the majority of fans.

Nice.....Millwall to blame again
I bet you get in the ground 3 hours before kick-off to take photos and eat sandwiches from your plastic bag.....loooser |
I've seen Millwall loads of times, home and away, watching both Crawley and Gillingham over the years. Hands down easily the worse set of fans I've ever seen. Pathetic wannabe Green Street hard men. Grown men punching 16/17 year old kids, grown men intimidating old people and young mothers with kids. Throwing bottles and other objects across train tracks at Gillingham station when trains were coming through. I've witnessed all of that. Disgusting fans. |

I'm sorry sir but I need you to blow into this.
I thought so, only three pints. I'm ordering you back into the bar. You need at least eight to watch this shower of *beep*!

Yeah, that happened. Horrible. The context is the Fulham fan in question (a known hooligan) approached a Gills fan after the game, and I don't think he wanted to congratulate them on the win (2-0 iirc - I was at that game). Cullen punched the hooligan and his ring caused a fatal injury. Completely horrible and I can see why you brought it up. Also, I've heard a few racist comments at Gillingham matches, and I think a fan got done a few years ago for racially abusing a player. Completely embarrassing.
The thing is, I never said I never see any trouble with other clubs. But there's something about Millwall that a section of fans just love to pretend that this is Football Factory and they are proper hard men and seriously, you're delusional if you think otherwise. I was on a train coming into London Bridge and a bunch of Millwall fans (I'd say 30-50 years old) started a fight. Some kid got completed battered by them. The oldest shouted "STAND UP FOR YOUR MATES" as he was just desperate for other people to join in so he could carry on fighting. This sort of rubbish does happen with other clubs, but IME it happens a hell of a lot with that South London hell hole. |

Every time i've been to Gillingham
4-5 times some very badly dressed locals have tried kicking off with the early stragglers..
i used to have a friend in Gillingham so when Millwall played there i'd stay there and the locals are not friendly
Can you explain why your fans sing no one likes us? As i'd hazard a guess that no one really knows them. |
